C.C Baxter (an on point Jack Lemmon), a hapless clerk down on his luck has found a convenient method of fast tracking his career advancement: he lends out his West Manhattan apartment to high powered executives to carry out their extramarital affairs. The ethics of this arrangement aside, Baxter is enjoying the corporate spoils of the deal. But when he learns that the company director's tryst involves his coworker and the object of his affection Fran (Shirley MacLaine), Baxter must decide between his career and the woman he loves.
